Terminator - Salvation

Terminator Salvation is a 2009 American science fiction post-apocalyptic war film. It is the fourth film in the Terminator series and stars Christian Bale as John Connor and Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright, a cyborg who believes he is human.

In 2003, a death row inmate named Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) at the Longview Correctional Facility meets with a representative Serena (Helena Bonham Carter) from Cyberdyne to donate his organs and tissue for what he believes will be a good cause. He wakes up 15 years after his execution to find a desolated downtown Los Angeles and a desert wilderness that was once the San Fernando valley.

After stealing clothes from a dead Resistance fighter, Marcus makes his way through the city to discover that the only human survivors there, are a teenage Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) and his young, silent, child companion named Star (Jadagrace). After rescuing Marcus from the onslaught of a T-600, Kyle explains how Judgment Day happened as he knows it, and that he is working to become a full-fledged Resistance member. So far though, Kyle and Star haven't had much luck finding others to join their branch. Marcus, determined to help, fixes an old shortwave radio which by chance, picks up a broadcast from John Connor (Christian Bale), whose daily broadcasts are secretly focused on finding Kyle, his future father.

As Marcus and Kyle leave L.A. city behind to meet John Connor, their vehicle comes under fire by various terminators, including a scout and a "HK" hunter-killer, which takes Kyle and Star alive in a round up of humans to transport to a prisoner camp.

Meanwhile, Connor and his superiors have all along known about Skynet taking human prisoners, and he is determined to discover why. They pick up unusually concentrated machine activity in the LA basin and dispatch fighters to intercept the hunter-killers in the area. One of them, Blair Williams (Moon Bloodgood) a pilot, is shot down and then rescued by Marcus Wright, while the interception fails and Connor is ordered to follow through with a Skynet infiltration attack.

Blair and Marcus bond over a two-night trek back to her base, in which after detonating a magnetized mine, Marcus is revealed to be of machine origin himself. His brain and heart are the only organs left, previously unknown to the Resistance, but later revealed to be the prototype for infiltration terminators like the T-800.

Blair, unable to accept that Marcus is part of Skynet, releases him from captivity at a Resistance base, and later with Connor's permission, allows him to enter the heart of Skynet at Cyberdyne headquarters. He and John proceed to rescue the prisoners by shutting down all security systems and then locate Kyle. However, while Marcus is deactivating the security, his machine circuitry syncs with the Cyberdyne mainframe, which reveals his true purpose and machine programming.

It tells him that he is only a Trojan horse of sorts, whose intent was to identify Connor and Reese and lure them into Skynet. With this mission fulfilled, he is free to choose if he wishes to continue fighting with the machines. Instead, Marcus rips out his main chip and allies with Connor to battle a pursuing T-800 before at last, Connor is impaled through the heart.

Once they are airlifted from the blast site, Connor detonates the Skynet Central there in San Fransisco and falls unconscious. Back at base camp, Marcus resolves to give up his heart to save Connor, providing closure to his story arc at the beginning. He explains to Blair and Kyle that everyone deserves a second chance on life, including Connor, and willingly undergoes a heart transplant. The scene fades.

After the successful heart transplant, Connor, Reese and the rest of his team are airlifted out via helicopters from the aid station. Connor is heard over radio giving another daily transmission including part of the message he will give Kyle when he is sent back in time, "There is no fate, but what we make."
